Augustine – Melanie Watt

Augustine, a young penguin, is moving to the North Pole.  This story has appealing bright pictures with wonderfully embedded fine art references.  The simple text is accessible for young reader’s.  The story’s style and structure would make a good model for writing.  Fun and cute.  Thematic ties – moving, families change, travel, fine art, fitting in, habitat. Melanie watt has a fair collection of books to her name, including Scaredy Squirrel.  Worthy of an illustrator study.

Scaredy Squirrel is a brilliant book – interactive and very funny! As much an adult book as a children’s book! I recommend it!
