Chieri Uegaki offers a well-told story in Rosie and Buttercup.  The difficulties in being an older sister provide her with a a believable situation and she treats us to enchanting characters.  Uegaki handles her characters’ circumstances with touches of humour.  Stephanie Jorisch supplies clean attractive illustrations which make for a fitting addition to the picture book collection in a school or public library.

Rosie and Buttercup would allow for opportunities to teach predicting, looking for detail, summarizing and inferencing.
