Secret of Grim Hill

Author:  Linda DeMeulemeester Copyright Date: 2007
Big Boot
Secret of Grim Hill is a spooky adventure story.  Strange things are happening in this little town and it has something to do with an unusual soccer match on Grim Hill.  Linda DeMeulemeester creates realistic main characters in an energetic plot line.  The conclusion feels plausible and resolve the twists and turns from the  various characters in a satisfying way.  The story probably will appeal to girls more than boys.  DeMeulemeester has a flair for good descriptive language.   I found the romance and dating stuff a bit off for audience age but I suspect I’m a bit old-fashioned in that regard.
p. 26-34 would make a good read aloud  and lead into teaching on descriptive language, character development and connections to the world and to other literature.
