review:
I must admit when I first picked this up a couple of years ago I wasn’t open to reading it. I assumed it would be bad news. It’s not. Calhoun has thought carefully through her practice in teaching reading and writing and has synthesized her work and the work of those she has mentored into this short book. The process is easy and the techniques are adaptable for short lessons and full units of study. A simple entry point to improving your teaching of reading and writing in any classroom. Very practical.
